Background and experience
My career began in the private IT sector, where I spent almost a decade leading process modernization, automation, and operational transformation initiatives. Over the past five years, I’ve shifted my focus toward digital innovation for international development and social good, working on topics such as blockchain traceability, decentralized digital content networks, Digital Product Passports, and open-source hardware digital twins.
Much of my work involves tackling data fragmentation, aligning stakeholders with competing incentives, and translating ambitious sustainability goals into actionable and measurable outcomes. I concentrate on bridging the gap between technical complexity and real-world impact, helping organizations move from vision to implementation.
Why am I here?
I “blame” the dogs! Back in 2016, volunteering at a local dog shelter made me realize just how far behind the non-profit sector was when it came to technology. After rebuilding their website and trying to streamline the volunteers’ shift schedules, I knew I wanted to dive deeper. This hands-on experience led me to discover the first international ICT4D Master’s pilot program at the University of Turin. After graduating, I made a complete pivot from the tourism industry into research and development—leaving behind a well-paid, secure job for the chance to “save the world”.
A peculiar path
What makes my perspective unique is the combination of technical expertise, global experience, and a deep commitment to human-centered innovation. As a woman in STEM and an expat (I’m born and raised in Romania and ‘cooked’ in Italy) working across different cultural contexts, I’ve learned that the most resilient solutions are those that consider people, communities, and ecosystems as carefully as they consider technology.I can navigate four worlds simultaneously:
- Technology
- Governance
- Sustainability
- Social impact
Different by design
Since my work centers around open source and knowledge sharing, it felt natural to create this space for the materials I’ve produced and collaborated on. I wanted to build a reliable point of reference, and I hope you find it beneficial too. Please enjoy the content, and if you want to learn more, just get in touch!
